The challenge

We started working with Learning with Parents in 2020, early in the journeys of both of our organisations. They were already doing incredible work supporting families and teachers, but like many at the beginning of their journey, they’d built their platform using the tools and resources available at the time.

As the UK entered lockdown and schools closed, Learning with parents offered their platform free to use for parents and demand for their platform didn’t just increase – it surged. Suddenly, families and teachers who’d never needed digital learning support before were using Learning with Parents to help them navigate this new reality. Their platform was straining under the weight of this demand, and they needed support to keep their service running for everyone who depended on it.

After some initial work to stabilise their low-code platform, we worked together to design and build a platform that could continue to grow with them. To truly serve their community and fulfil their mission, they needed technology infrastructure that could scale, as well as a technology partner who would grow alongside them.

The approach

We started with the emergency – stabilising their platform during those critical early lockdown months when families needed them most. But once we’d got through that immediate crisis together, we could turn our attention to the bigger picture.

Following this initial support we began to collaborate on a complete platform redesign, moving from the low-code solution to a scalable system built to grow with them. This wasn’t something we did behind closed doors and then unveiled – we involved users throughout, testing directly with teachers and parents to make sure the new platform actually worked for needs of the people using it.

Alongside the platform work, we helped Learning with Parents build the technology foundations they needed to operate effectively as they transitioned from start up to becoming a growing charity. We set up and now manage their Google Workspace, and helped them adopt tools like Slack for team communication, HubSpot CRM for managing relationships, and Monday.com for project management. Where it made sense, we built integrations between these systems so information flows naturally without manual work.

Over the five years we’ve been working together, we’ve also provided cybersecurity support to keep their data and systems safe, and ongoing strategic guidance through regular conversations about what’s working, what’s not, and what should come next. We are an extension of their team, and they are a significant part of our network.
